The Diocese has a long history of social centres. They were established to provide a Christian social environment where members of parishes could spend time socially with one another.
In 1998, the Diocese formed the Shrewsbury Diocese Commercial Company (SDCC) Ltd to manage the Licensed Parish Centres, and the Trustees appointed a Board of Directors to run the Commercial Company. The company's day-to-day running is administered by Mark Hale as the Director of Parish Centres working from the Curial Office and Julie Birks and Stacey Melia assist him.
The Company is wholly owned by the Diocese and the profits generated by the Commercial Company are covenanted back to the Diocese, which in turn distribute them back into the Parishes and Education.
The Diocese currently has 21 Licensed Parish Centres: 14 large Clubs and 7 smaller function facilities. For more details on their location and how to contact the Parish Centres please click here. A number of these sites have been extensively refurbished offering excellent facilities for those wishing to celebrate Weddings, Engagements, Baptisms, Birthdays or other Family celebrations and can be hired for other occasions such as meeting venues or funerals.
Any person wishing to hire these facilities should contact their local Licensed Parish Centre, where you will be sure to receive a warm welcome.
